Gorgeous Isle of Capri

A short ferry ride from Sorrento through the Gulf of Naples lies the Isle of Capri, one of the most beautiful place I have ever seen.  We took a funicular to the upper town and began a walking tour from the historic center of Piazza Umberto I to a spectacular trail that wrapped around the coastline.  This several hour, vertical trail in many areas, demonstrated one jaw-dropping view after another and was truly a special experience.  Many of the pictures show Mount Vesuvius, which was experiencing grass fires due to the dry conditions and the smoking created the feeling that the volcanic mountain was erupting.  The views were amazing, but what I loved the most of Capri was the tremendous flower density of the Island with every blink of the eye taking in gorgeous colors.

After the hike, we boarded a second boat for a mini-cruise around the island to view the stunning natural formations including the sheer cliff known as Tiberios Leap, the white Grotta Bianca, the rainbow-colored Grotta del Corallo where the coral cakes the rocks, the iconic Arco Naturale and the towering Faraglioni sea stars in Marina Piccola.  This day was so much fun and I enjoyed the Island tremendously.  Cannot wait to return next time on my yacht, pop some bottles and swim in the deepest blue Sea you could imagine.
